Client Story: Overcoming a Dog Bite Injury in Southern Utah

Experiencing a personal injury can be frightening and overwhelming, especially when it involves something as unexpected as a dog bite. In this post, we share Rose’s journey through recovery, legal challenges, and eventual triumph after suffering a dog bite injury in Southern Utah. Her story highlights the importance of having a dedicated personal injury lawyer by your side.

The Dog Bite Incident

While working for the postal service, Rose approached a door with an unfriendly dog who was barking and bit her out of nowhere.  The owner was slightly apologetic, but Rose’s injuries required immediate medical attention. This incident left her not only with physical wounds but significant emotional distress and medical expenses.

Understanding Utah’s dog bite laws is essential for anyone in a similar situation. In Utah, dog owners are generally held strictly liable if their dog bites someone without provocation, meaning they are responsible for damages caused by their pet.

Seek Medical Attention

Dog bites can result in severe injuries, including infections, scarring, and nerve damage. For Rose, the bite led to a painful recovery process and unexpected financial burdens. The first and most important thing to do after an accident is getting prompt medical care. Rose did this right away, which helped precent further help complications. Her immediate actions also helped document her injuries thoroughly, which would later prove vital for her personal injury claim.

Well, I worked for the post office and was delivering packages, and a dog came out of nowhere- behind me and bit my leg. So I wasn’t gonna do anything. Actually, I let it go, you know, but the lady just kept being mean to me every time I would go to her mailbox. And she got mad at me for not taking her packages to her door.

I tried to tell her your dog bit me, like attacked me, not bit me, but attacked me. And she wasn’t nice about it at all. My daughter-in-law was in a car accident a few months before that, and was the one who told me about McMullin. Well, I just reached out to them to set up a consultation, because they’re really good.

Jordan and Liz were awesome. Working with Liz was great. She was very thoughtful. I really liked her. She was wonderful with me and you know, answering my questions. She was great through the whole process. I would recommend them.
