BIGGEST AND SMALLEST ST. GEORGE INJURY SETTLEMENTS FROM SEPTEMBER 2025
Personal injury cases come in all shapes and sizes — and September 2025 was a perfect example of that.
At McMullin Injury Law, we handle cases across the full spectrum, from catastrophic injuries to smaller claims where someone is able to recover well and move forward. Each month, we like to highlight a few real examples to show what injury cases can look like here in Southern Utah — and why it’s important to understand your rights, your options, and the insurance coverage that may apply.
In September 2025, our biggest settlement involved a serious ATV/side-by-side rollover with devastating injuries. Our smaller settlements came from a very common intersection crash in St. George that could happen to anyone.
September’s Largest Settlement: $1,050,000 ATV Rollover Passenger Injury
The largest case we resolved in September 2025 involved a young girl who was riding as a passenger in a side-by-side (often called a Razor) with a friend.
Like many teenagers in Southern Utah, they were out driving together — and unfortunately, the driver rolled the vehicle.
Side-by-sides and ATVs are fun, but they are also extremely dangerous. Even when they’re not being driven recklessly, they can roll easily depending on terrain, speed, and turning angles.
In this crash, the passenger’s leg was crushed. The injury was severe, and she had to undergo several surgeries.
This type of case raises an important question that many families don’t know how to answer:
If the crash happened off-road, who is liable — and what insurance coverage applies?
Who Is Liable in a Single-Vehicle ATV Rollover?
Many people assume that if an ATV or side-by-side rolls in the desert or on trails, there may be no legal claim at all.
That is not true.
Even if the crash happens off a city street, the driver of an ATV or side-by-side can still be held liable when their passenger is injured in a single-vehicle rollover.
And in many cases, the biggest challenge is not proving fault — it’s finding the right insurance coverage.
How We Found the Coverage That Made This Settlement Possible
In this case, we were able to locate a $1,000,000 insurance policy that applied to the owners of the vehicle.
That policy stepped in to cover injuries caused by the driver.
In addition to that, we were also able to obtain $50,000 through uninsured motorist (UM) coverage from the injured girl’s own auto policy.
That brought the total settlement to:
$1,050,000
This settlement helped compensate the young girl for the significant medical treatment she had to endure, including multiple surgeries, and the long-term impact that comes with such a serious injury.
The Bigger Takeaway for Southern Utah Families
This case is also a reminder of something many people don’t realize:
If you are injured on an ATV or side-by-side — as a passenger or even as a driver — there may still be insurance options available.
Injury claims aren’t limited to “car crashes on the road.” Coverage can exist in unexpected places, and finding it often requires a detailed investigation.
September’s Smaller Settlements: Sunset Boulevard T-Bone Crash at Valley View
On the smaller end of the spectrum for September 2025, we resolved a case involving a mother and her 11-year-old son.
They were driving westbound on Sunset Boulevard and approached the intersection at Valley View — near the movie theater entrance.
A vehicle coming from the opposite direction failed to yield while making a left-hand turn.
This type of crash happens all the time in St. George and throughout Southern Utah.
Left-turn collisions are especially dangerous because they often lead to violent T-bone impacts, even when one driver is only trying to “sneak through” quickly.
Thankfully, the Injuries Were Not Severe — But They Still Mattered
In this case, the mother and her son were fortunate.
Their injuries were relatively minimal compared to many T-bone crashes, and both recovered well physically, mentally, and emotionally.
However, that doesn’t mean the crash was “no big deal.”
Even so-called minor injury cases can involve:
Months of pain
Physical therapy
Chiropractic care
Missed school or missed work
Emotional stress and anxiety after a crash
And those damages deserve to be taken seriously.
Settlement Results for the Mother and Child
We were able to resolve the settlements as follows:
$14,000 settlement for the child
$25,000 settlement for the mother
These outcomes ensured that their treatment was covered and that they were compensated for what they went through.
Why These September Cases Matter
September 2025 was a powerful reminder that injury cases can be dramatically different — not only in size, but in the types of incidents that cause them.
One case involved a side-by-side rollover and a crushed leg requiring multiple surgeries.
The other involved a very common St. George intersection crash with more moderate injuries and a strong recovery.
Both cases mattered.
And in both cases, the injured people deserved help, support, and fair compensation.

I’m Andrew Spainhower with McMullin Injury Law, and I’m gonna go over the biggest and smallest cases at our law firm in the month of September, 2025. We had some unusual cases that got settled this month. The biggest case that we were able to resolve was for a young girl who was a passenger riding on a side by side, a razor, with her friend. Two teenagers out driving, and driver rolled the vehicle. These things happen. Those things can roll. And unfortunately, the leg of the passenger was crushed. The passenger was injured, and the driver of an A TV is liable when there’s a single vehicle rollover, even if it’s not on a city street out in the desert or wherever it is.
So, then the question typically becomes, what insurance coverage can we find that can help?
For these injured passengers, we were able to find a million dollar policy that did apply to the owners of that vehicle. So, it stepped into place to pay out if and when they’re ever liable for injuries caused that driver. And so we were able to get a settlement of 1,050,000 for this poor young girl that had to have several surgeries on her leg with severe injuries, the 50,000 was from uninsured motorist coverage on that girl’s own auto policy.
So, there are options if you’re hurt on an ATV as a passenger or as a driver if there’s another vehicle at fault.
The smallest case we were able to resolve in the month of September was a mother and son that were heading westbound on Sunset Boulevard, and they come to the intersection at Valley View, at the movie theater entrance there, and a vehicle that was oncoming failed to yield on a left hand turn. This type of crash happens all the time and it caused a pretty violent T-Bone injuries were relatively minimal here.
Fortunately, mother and an 11-year-old son did okay but did deal with months of pain from that. They were able to get in and get some physical therapy and chiropractic therapy covered and recover really well physically, mentally, emotionally.
We got a $14,000 settlement for the child and a $25,000 settlement for his mom.
